WORSHIP

Worship God Passionately

At Calvary Nampa, the first of our four Core Commitments is: “Worship God Passionately.” That’s because we believe mankind’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. We believe worship is an act of humbly exalting the God of the universe in response to who he is and what he does. We were created to worship and the Christian life begins and ends here.

Key Expression: Gathered Worship

All of life is worship and can be lived to the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31). However, a primary way this value is expressed together at Calvary is through a gospel-saturated Sunday service focused on Jesus, as we join with others to respond to the majesty of God’s glory in passionate worship!

Service time is Sundays at 10:00am (Children’s Church Provided for Infants to 3rd Grade). Learn what to expect.

Meet Jesus

No One Is More Loved Or Hated Than Jesus. This is not surprising, since He’s the most famous person in all of human history. More songs have been sung to Him, artwork created of Him, and books written about Him than anyone who has ever lived. Naturally, someone this important will have fans and foes. A lot of people have an idea of who Jesus is from TV or movies, past church experiences, history books, or maybe from just hearsay. But just because we have ideas of who Jesus is doesn’t mean we actually know Jesus. Lets take a look at the Jesus Christ of the Bible….

If you want to know God in true relationship, or if you sense that something isn’t right between you and Him and you wish you could fix it, you don’t need to wait any longer. God loves you and is waiting for you with open arms. All you have to do is respond, and it’s not hard to do! Here are simple steps.

  • Admit you have sinned and need forgiveness. The first step towards making a change is recognizing a need exists. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrated His love toward us that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.”

  • Believe the good news of God’s love for you. You don’t have to “clean yourself up” before coming to God: He accepts you just as you are. John 3:16 says, “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

  • Confess your sins and ask for God’s forgiveness. Just imagine a life free of regret and guilt! God promises to forget your sins in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

  • Demonstrate your decision by taking practical steps to grow in faith: baptism in water, baptism in the Holy Spirit, and becoming part of the Church. Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said to them, “Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the Holy Spirit.””

If you have made a decision to follow Christ (ABC’s above) or have questions we we’d love to connect with you and share more. Take your next step!

Baptism & The Lord’s Supper

God created us and he knows we are forgetful people! In the Old Testament he instituted festivals to remember his great works. Similarly, Jesus commanded the church to practice two things called “ordinances.” These ordinances, The Lord’s Supper (or communion) and baptism, set our minds on his death and resurrection, and the joyful task of proclaiming his Good News to all.

Baptism

Jesus calls each of his followers to make a public declaration or demonstration of their faith by participating in baptism. At Calvary we believe that baptism is the act of immersing a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (as instructed in Mathew 28:18-20). Baptism always comes after someone chooses to repent and believe in Christ. It is an outward portrayal of the inward work the Holy Spirit has already done in a believer’s life. We believe baptism is for those old enough to have made this personal decision to trust Christ.

The Lord’s Supper

Those who have put their faith in Christ are welcomed to participate in the Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate every week in our Sunday service. This is a symbolic act of obedience where believers, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer (Jesus) and anticipate his second coming (as instructed in Luke 22:14-20). In other words, this celebration visibly proclaims the death of Christ until he returns again (1 Cor. 11:26).

At Calvary, we observe the Lord’s Supper each weekend. This is not as a matter of duty or ritual - on the contrary, it is a personal, purposeful means to keep the gospel fresh and central in the life of our body and in every individual heart.

If you have questions about The Lord’s Supper, baptism or are interested in getting baptized we would love to meet with you and discuss in greater detail. Take your next step!
